Hello neighbors,

I’m so glad to introduce myself to those of you I haven’t met yet.

I’ve been a longtime resident of Rapid City and Ward 3, a small business owner, and a mom. Recently, a recent career change gave me the time I needed to finally pull the trigger and run for City Council. Soon, my daughter will start driving herself, freeing up even more time for me to serve, and to serve well.

In the seven weeks since I decided to run, I’ve had 26 coffee meetings with a wonderfully diverse group of locals: city engineers, transit professionals, nonprofit leaders, developers, small business owners, solid waste employees and current and former City Council officials. Every meeting has enriched me with answers about how this city is really being run and leaving me with more questions. I’ve loved every second of this process. This is the kind of leader I intend to be. I will be face to face with the citizens who are directly involved with the issues at hand. These meetings won’t stop, they will increase.

I’ve gained so much knowledge, along with a clear realization: there’s still so much to ask. My promise to you is this: I won’t stop asking. I won’t stop digging into the issues that truly matter until I’ve gotten answers from all sides that I can trust. I will never settle for the status quo, nor sit back while “business as usual” passes us by.
